NEW YORK -- Looming playoffs could force an end to negotiations in baseballs latest drug scandal as pressure builds to impose penalties so stars can still make the post-season. Monday appears to be the deadline for Alex Rodriguez and 13 others to accept suspensions for their ties to the Biogenesis of America anti-aging clinic. While A-Rod is expected to get a lengthy ban, a penalty starting that day would allow Texas All-Star outfielder Nelson Cruz to return for October. Major League Baseball is prepared to issue two simultaneous announcements no later than Monday, a person familiar with the process told The Associated Press on Thursday. One would list players who accept suspensions; the other would name those disciplined without deals, but who could challenge penalties before an arbitrator. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because no statements were authorized. Most players face 50-game suspensions for their links to the now-closed Florida clinic, which has been accused of distributing banned performance-enhancing drugs. But baseball is threatening to kick Rodriguez out for life unless the three-time AL MVP agrees to a long ban, perhaps around 200 games. Rodriguez appeared ready to talk Thursday as he was leaving the teams minor league complex in Tampa, Fla., waving a group of writers to his car in the parking lot and rolling down the window. However, when he saw a second group with TV cameras approaching, he said: "Ill talk to you guys, but no cameras." Rodriguez closed the window and waited a moment, then left without saying another word. Baseballs highest-paid player with a $28 million salary, Rodriguez played in a simulated game and saw 31 pitches over six at-bats, played third and ran bases. The Yankees expect A-Rod to be accused of recruiting other athletes for the clinic, attempting to obstruct MLBs investigation, and not being truthful with MLB in the past. Baseball has considered suspending him for violations of its labour contract and drug agreement, which would cause him to start serving his penalty before the case would go to arbitration. Sidelined following hip surgery in January and then a strained quadriceps, the 38-year-old third baseman hopes to return to the Yankees in a few days. He is to play Friday and Saturday at Double-A Trenton, putting himself in position to rejoin New York for Mondays series opener at the Chicago White Sox if hes not banned. Barring a rainout this weekend, Cruzs Rangers would have exactly 50 games remaining before they play at the Los Angeles Angels on Monday night. If he files a grievance, as a first offender, the penalty would be delayed until after a decision by arbitrator Fredric Horowitz. But the lengthy legal process likely would risk his eligibility for the playoffs and the start of next season. Cruz said Thursday he hadnt made any decision about a possible appeal. Asked whether he was told specifically what penalty could be forthcoming, Cruz responded, "No, I cannot tell you. Sorry." Detroit shortstop Jhonny Peralta is the other targeted All-Star on a pennant contender, and the Tigers would have 53 games left before playing at Cleveland on Monday. Another All-Star shortstop, San Diegos Everth Cabrera, could serve all of a 50-game suspension this year if he begins with the Padres game against Baltimore on Tuesday. Others facing discipline include injured Yankees catcher Francisco Cervelli and Seattle catcher Jesus Montero, who is in the minor leagues with Triple-A Tacoma. Discount Sabres Jerseys Online . -- For the first time in two months, an opponent was standing up to Alabama. Ryan OReilly Jersey .C. Lions has come to an end. Banks told TSN on Jan 2 that he had no interest in playing out the option year of his contract with the Lions in 2014, and he again made that clear in a conversation with Lions GM Wally Buono last week. http://www.sabresjerseyscheap.com/?tag=sam-reinhart-jersey . A big centre with all the tools to be an elite player, Johansen paced the Blue Jackets with a standout game Saturday night. He had a goal and two assists for a career-high three points as Columbus beat the New York Islanders 5-2 to snap a five-game losing streak. Chad Johnson Jersey . LOUIS -- Heading into the final stretch of the season, the issues for the Chicago Bears banged-up defence only seem to be getting worse. Johan Larsson Jersey . 8 Kansas to a 64-63 win over Texas Tech on Tuesday night. The freshman from Vaughan, Ont. PHILADELPHIA -- A 2-0 start in Philadelphia has people comparing Carson Wentz to Peyton Manning and Doug Pederson to Vince Lombardi.Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz deserves some credit, too.Wentz has certainly exceeded expectations . Hes the first rookie quarterback in NFL history to win his first two starts and not commit a turnover.Pederson has pushed all the right buttons, showing strong leadership and excellent playcalling.Meanwhile, Schwartz has taken a defense that ranked among the worst each of the past three seasons and turned it into a stingy unit. Theyre ranked fourth in yards allowed and have allowed the second-fewest points (that includes a punt return for a TD ).I like the way its coming together, middle linebacker Jordan Hicks said after Monday nights 29-15 win at Chicago. Were playing stout, pretty strong and aggressive. Thats what this defense is. Im excited. The sky is the limit with this defense. We have a lot to improve and its a long season, but weve started out pretty well.Schwartz, a former head coach in Detroit, returned to coaching after sitting out the 2015 season. He brought an aggressive, 4-3 scheme and is maximizing the talent he has.Brandon Graham and Connor Barwin moved to defensive end after playing linebacker in former coordinator Billy Davis 3-4 system. Fletcher Cox and Bennie Logan are getting a strong push up the middle. Linebackers Hicks and Nigel Bradham have made big plays . The secondary overcame the absence of injured cornerback Leodis McKelvin and shut down Jay Cutler and the Bears. Were playing well together, having fun and everybody is chipping in, said Graham, who had one sack and two tackles for losses.Wentz, the No. 2 overall pick, gets most of the praise and hes been outstanding. He has a 94.1 rating, three TDs and a comppletion rate of 60.dddddddddddd6 percent.Wentz already has won more games in two starts than Joe Montana (0-1) and Troy Aikman (0-11) did their rookie seasons. Manning went 3-13 with the Colts in 1998. John Elway (4-6), Terry Bradshaw (3-5), Fran Tarkenton (2-8) and Johnny Unitas (3-4) also had losing years as rookies. But the Eagles beat the hapless Browns (0-2) and the Bears (0-2). They have a tougher road ahead, starting with a home game against Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers (2-0) on Sunday.Big Ben, by the way, was 13-0 his rookie season in 2004 and led the Steelers to the AFC championship game.Asked if Wentz reminds him of Roethlisberger, Pederson said: Little bit, little bit. Carson has the ability to extend plays with his legs. Ben is big, strong, physical in the pocket, hard to bring down and continues to have great vision down the field.I think thats one thing with Carsons strength is he continues to have that vision down the field when things begin to break down. So, yeah, there are a lot of similarities there. The fact that theyre both very good throwers outside the pocket is a tribute to both of them.Game notes Pederson said RT Lane Johnson will start until a decision is made on the appeal of his 10-game suspension for violating the NFLs substance abuse policy. ... LB Mychal Kendricks broke his nose and has a quadriceps contusion, but is expected to play vs. Pittsburgh. ... Pederson said theres no change with the status of McKelvin (hamstring) and TE Zach Ertz (ribs). Both players missed one game.---AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP-NFL---Follow Rob Maaddi on Twitter: https://twitter.com/AP-RobMaaddi Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Black Jerseys Wholesale NFL Gear Cheap Stitched Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys 2018 Wholesale Nike NFL Jerseys White NFL Jerseys Cheap ' ' '
